Dr. Lee’s Bio

Dr. Young Joo Lee is currently the Medical Director of Breast and Integrative Oncology at Anne Arundel
Medical Center. She has worked as a board-certified hematologist and oncologist since 1995 in large
NCI-designated comprehensive cancer programs as well as in community cancer centers. Dr. Lee is
passionate about providing the most advanced and effective cancer therapies with minimal toxicity by
integrating the wisdom of traditional healing practices into modern medicine. Her interest in
complementary medicine started at a young age when she watched her father practice acupuncture in
patients who could not find help in Western medicine. Her vision is to provide cancer patients with
evidence based complementary therapies through well designed clinical trials. Dr. Lee has special
training and experience in conducting clinical trials in many different cancer types.
Dr. Lee is a graduate of Universidade Federal de Rio Grande do Sul Medical School in Brazil. She
completed her Internal Medicine training and Hematology Oncology fellowship at Jackson Memorial
Hospital in Miami FL. After 300 hours of education through Harvard Medical School Structural
Acupuncture Program for Physicians in 2012 she is a certified medical acupuncturist. She graduated with a master’s degree in Medical Management from Carnegie Mellon University in 2017. Dr. Lee is the author of several articles in peer-reviewed journals. She is an active member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology, and the Maryland/District of Columbia Society of Clinical Oncology.
